These are the major enhancements introduced in Ubuntu 11.10.
- Unity Desktop shell has been updated and improved upon.
- Introduces specialized "Lenses". These are similar to "Activities" in KDE 4.x.
- "Ubuntu software center" sees improvements in speed, better usability, and search functionality enhancements. It also looks better.
- Thunderbird is made the default email client replacing Evolution.
- A full update to GNOME 3. Brings the latest version of applications.
- Ubuntu One (Ubuntu's personal cloud) has been even more tightly integrated with the Ubuntu desktop. Ubuntu One provides 5GB of free storage online to every subscriber.
- Dash - the central search driven interface of Ubuntu, now provides instant access to your personal and online music collections through the music lens, which will also search the Ubuntu One Music Store.
- Deja Dup is included as the default backup tool in Ubuntu 11.10.
- Ubuntu 11.10 is now available in 38 languages.
